The Question is... Who's Responsible for Baba Siddique's Murder?

Dear Reader,
The elections in Maharashtra have been announced amid a significant breakdown in law and order. In just the past six months, a former cabinet minister has been killed on a busy road in Mumbai, shots have been fired outside the house of one of the biggest Bollywood stars, and a prime accused in a sexual assault case has been encountered even as the other 'more privileged' accused is on the run.
With Baba Siddique’s murder — and the possible links of several of the accused to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was also behind the firing outside Salman Khan's house — there are many questions for the ruling Maharashtra government and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to answer.
The first being... How can a gangster lodged in a prison in Gujarat execute two big attacks in Mumbai within months of each other?
And how are India's police and intelligence agencies failing to control the operations of an incarcerated man?
As the impunity with which the well-planned crime was committed – reminding one of the syndicates of the 1980s and 1990s – it's important to understand that the motives for the Bishnoi gang are not just limited to their 'hate' for Salman Khan, as my colleague Aditya Menon explained in this piece.
Baba Siddique Murder: What's Lawrence Bishnoi's Motive? More Than Salman Khan
And when one takes a closer look at the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data over the past few years, it reveals a far grimmer picture of Maharashtra's law and order situation. It's not just the current government — troubles have brewed in both Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi governments.
Drugs, Murder, Gangs: Who's Responsible For Maharashtra's Law & Order Collapse?
So, the question is... who will take accountability?
The police? The intelligence agencies? Or the home ministry?
And who's really responsible for Baba Siddique's murder?
